Question - I want to move my Hognose to a new location in my house, but I'm scared of setting the tank on top of anything with the under tank heat pad - how do you house yours?? He's in a all glass tank with front opening and right now he is in top of the small freezer that I keep his mice in with supports underneath for air flow ... any tips appreciated - TIA

Hi Rachel! I'm so sorry I only just saw this or I would have responded to you forever ago! The heat pad is generally safe to use on multiple different kinds of surfaces. My hognoses are currently kept in a rack which has plastic bins and pvc structure, so even plastic is safe. For some of my other pets using heat tape or heating pads, I always put a towel between the tape/pad and whatever is underneath it. This allows for a small amount of airflow, and in general, something like a towel needs to hit 250 F in order to catch fire. As long as you are using Thermostats to regulate temperature, and checking your equipment often, your furniture and your hognoses will be fine on most surfaces. I hope that helps!
